Raw Versus Edited Images

The thumbnail gallery photos and larger sized jpegs do not always reflect what the final image will look like. They are unedited raw images and there is often a dramatic difference between them and the final edited image; this is especially true for photos shot at sporting events. Due to the nature of the action at the event it is not always possible to get the best angle or pose for the subject. Weather conditions also play a major part in  shooting action shots. If it is cloudy and dark the camera and lens setting options are limited because of the need for high shutter speeds to freeze the action and prevent blurring. Thanks to the magic of digital photography many photographs which might be considered as not good enough to keep may actually be excellent images after they are edited in a photo editing program like Photoshop.

The photographs below illustrate what is possible through digital editing.
